1999 Doubled Die Reverse DDR-010
Error
Description
Spanning nearly the full height of the affected column, the 1999 Lincoln Memorial Cent DDR-010 presents a medium westward spread creating a ghost column at position number 7 from the seated Lincoln statue's hand all the way down to the pedestal. This hand-to-pedestal zone represents one of the broadest vertical footprints among the RDV-007 family of column #7 doubled die reverses, encompassing the upper, middle, and lower portions of the column in a single continuous spread. The westward displacement shifted the secondary hub impression to create an architectural echo that runs alongside column 7 over this extended range. Die markers UVC-3075 and DMR-013 identify this working die. Three die stages are documented: Stage A with both reverse and obverse in early die state, Stage B tentatively in mid-die state (unconfirmed), and Stage C tentatively in late die state (unconfirmed). Cataloged by VarietyVista, this Philadelphia Mint regular strike was produced in copper-plated zinc. Compare with the companion 1999 DDR-002, which also affects column 7 on an RDV-007 reverse but covers the knee-to-pedestal zone rather than DDR-010's broader hand-to-pedestal span. The extensive vertical range of the spread on DDR-010 provides a generous diagnostic window for attribution under moderate magnification.
