1999 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Atypical Die Clash ADC-1C-1999-02

Description

ADC-1c-1999-02 is an atypical die clash on a 1999 Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by Mad Die Clashes. It is a very strong, unabraded clash on both obverse and reverse. The dies were tilted slightly, 1°, well within the Mint's tolerances. What sets it apart is a set of fine marks from the Memorial's stairs, which will fade as the die keeps striking coins. It closely resembles ADC-1C-1999-06; to tell them apart, compare where the clash crosses Lincoln's profile at the front and at the back. On the reverse, a chip on the cornice over column one identifies the die. The coin is courtesy of Bob Piazza.
