Description
Trails rise from the upper edges of IN GOD WE TRUST on 1996D-1DEO-003T, with lighter ones from the top of the date, all at 020°, north-northeast. As TrailDies numbers it, the code means 1996 Denver (1996D), cent (1), obverse design extension (DEO), file 003, trails (T). Markers at the middle die state: a gouge to the lower right of the second 9 in the date, a gouge under the E of AMERICA, and light north-south scratches through every bay of the Memorial and across most of the reverse. Bob Piazza found the die. The usual attribution for trails is rotary polishing of the die; a smaller group attributes them to die-to-hub movement.

- Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – a die gouge is seen to the SE of the 2nd 9 in the date.
- Reverse is MDS – Die gouge under the E of AMERICA. Light N-S die scratches in all memorial bays as well as most of the reverse
