Description
This 1996-D Lincoln Memorial cent from the Denver Mint carries catalog number RIDB-1c-1996D-01, a retained interior die break on the obverse die. Cuds on Coins uses the D in the code for the Denver mint letter and 01 as the sequence number; there is no trailing R, so the obverse is the affected side. A retained interior die break is a section of the die face away from the rim that has broken free but stays in place, boxed in by the surrounding die. Expect a raised island that still shows its design, dropping off abruptly to the design around it.
