Description
1994D-1DER-023T is a trail die from the 1994 Denver cent: 1994D for date and mint, 1 for the denomination, DER for the reverse-side design extension, 023 for the file and T for trails. The trails come off the tops of the letters of EPU in the motto and point 330°, north-northwest, up and to the left. TrailDies' middle-die-state coin has a small gouge below IN on the obverse and two small gouges to the lower left of the U of UNITED on the reverse. Aisha Shahid, who also found files 021 and 022, found this one. Most attribute trails to polishing the die with a rotary buff, though some suspect movement of the die against the hub.
Die Markers
- Stage “B“, obverse is MDS – a small die gouge is seen below the word IN.
- Reverse is MDS – two small die gouges are seen below left of the U in UNITED.
