1994 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent - D-1DER-009WS Trail Die Reverse

Description

Light to moderate wavy steps under columns 5, 6 and 7 identify 1994D-1DER-009WS, with the offset at 180°, due south. In wavy-step dies the trail lines run across the Memorial's stairs, so the steps look slightly bent. The code covers the date and mint (1994D), the cent (1), the reverse design extension (DER), the file (009) and the type (WS). TrailDies' coin comes from late in the die's life, with a gouge above the B of LIBERTY, scratches over CENT's N and T, and a gouge just left of the D in UNITED. As with other trail dies, rotary polishing of the die is the usual attribution, and a minority view blames movement of the die against the hub.
