1994D-1DER-008WS Trail Die Reverse

Description

Documented at Stage B by Trail Dies, the 1994D-1DER-008WS wavy-step trail die reverse on the 1994 Denver Lincoln Memorial cent features attribution markers positioned in the open field areas of both dies. The obverse at mid-die-state carries a die gouge in the field below IN — the word IN from the motto IN GOD WE TRUST — placing the gouge in a relatively uncluttered area of the design where it is easy to locate under magnification. The reverse, also at mid-die-state, shows a die gouge to the left of the lower period in E PLURIBUS UNUM. The motto's punctuation marks provide exceptionally precise reference points for die marker documentation because they are small, fixed design elements whose exact positions are consistent across all dies.
