Description

1994D-1DER-007WS stands for a 1994 Denver cent (1994D, 1), reverse design extension (DER), TrailDies file 007, wavy steps (WS). The stairs under columns 5, 6 and 7 bend lightly to moderately where trails cross them, at 180°, due south; the bend stops short of column 8. On the middle-die-state coin a gouge sits by the rim between WE and TRUST, and in the Memorial's roof there is a small gouge below the dot before UNUM. The common explanation is die polishing with a rotary tool; others think the lines come from the die moving against the hub.
