Description
1994D-1DER-006WS has a strong fluting line from column 2 into the stylobate, and the corners of the stylobate's first and second levels also extend. Below columns 5 through 8 the stairs bend moderately. TrailDies gives the direction as 190°, just west of due south. Its code is 1994D (Denver, 1994) plus 1 (cent), DER (design extension on the reverse), 006 (file) and WS (wavy steps, trail lines that cross the stairs and bend them). The middle-die-state obverse shows two gouges above the 4 of the date and a small one in the field beside the lower left of the bust. Trails of this sort are usually put down to a rotary buff used to polish the die face, though a few specialists attribute them to the die moving against the hub.
