1992 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent - D-1DER-014T Trail Die Reverse

Description

1992D-1DER-014T, a 1992 Denver cent with a reverse design extension (DER), file 014, type T for trails, has trails in two directions. The tops of the letters of E PLURIBUS UNUM look distorted, and TrailDies reads that set as running at about 350°, a little west of north. The second set, at 260°, just south of west, appears on UNITED, on the left-hand corners of the cornice and the roof, and the N and E of ONE. TrailDies' coin is a middle die state, marked by a small gouge next to the mint mark, while the reverse has a heavy scratch below the R of PLURIBUS and die damage beneath its S. Bill Slaughter found the die. Trails are commonly credited to polishing of the die with a rotary tool; a minority credits the die moving against the hub.

• Reverse is MDS – a heavy die scratch is seen under the R of PLURIBUS. Die damage is seen under the S of PLURIBUS.
