Description
Light trails on 1992D-1DER-013T leave the N, I and T of UNITED and the left part of E PLURIBUS UNUM, heading at 300°, west-northwest, up and to the left. TrailDies' number puts the 1992 date and Denver's D first, then 1 for a cent, DER for TrailDies' design extension reverse, 013 as the file and T for trails. Its coin is a very late obverse, scattered with small gouges around the date and mint mark, paired with a late reverse that shows two die dots inside the N of UNITED. Bill Slaughter found the die. The explanation usually given for trails is a rotary buff polishing the die, though some attribute them to the die moving against the hub.
Die Markers
- Stage “D “, obverse is VLDS – small die gouges are seen in and around the date and mint mark.
- Reverse is LDS – a pair of die dots are seen in the N of UNITED.
