Description
TrailDies' 1992D-1DER-012T is a 1992 Denver cent: 1992D gives date and mint, 1 the one-cent denomination; DER puts the design extension on the reverse; 012 is the file, T the type (trails). Faint lines leave the letters of STATES and of E PLURIBUS UNUM and run toward the upper left at 330° (north-northwest). With trails this faint, the die markers matter: on the middle-die-state coin TrailDies describes, a gouge sits just left of the 1 in the date, while a small reverse gouge lies above the E of UNITED. Bill Slaughter found it. Rotary polishing of the die is the cause most commonly cited for trails, though some point instead to the die moving against the hub.
