Description
On 1992D-1DER-006T, light trails come from the upper left corners of the U and N of UNITED, and faint ones where the left base line ends in a corner, all pointing at 260°, just south of due west. Decoded, the number means 1992 Denver, one cent, reverse design extension (DER), file 006, trails (T). The coin in the entry is a late die state. Its obverse is scattered with small die dots in and around LIBERTY, the date and the mint mark, and its reverse has a gouge between the left base line and the O of ONE. TrailDies credits Bill Slaughter of Arkansas with finding it. Rotary polishing of the die is the usual explanation for trails; some see the die moving against the hub as the cause.
