Description

1983D-1DEO-003T is TrailDies' third trails file for the 1983 Denver Lincoln cent obverse: date and D mint mark, the one-cent denomination digit, DEO for the obverse side, serial 003 and a T. Here the lines are on the tops of the letters of WE TRUST rather than LIBERTY, and they head toward 060°, east-northeast, up and to the right. TrailDies grades the coin MDS, stage B. Two obverse markers help separate it from other 1983-D trail dies: a small gouge at the rim above the L of LIBERTY, and another gouge just right of the U in TRUST. No reverse markers are listed. Michael Pope of Illinois found the die. Rotary polishing of the die gets most of the credit for trails, though some writers attribute them to the die moving against the hub.
