The 1983 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent was struck at the Denver Mint as a cent in the Lincoln Memorial Cents 1959-2008 series. The Denver Mint struck 6,467,199,428 cents dated 1983. The obverse features Abraham Lincoln facing right and the reverse displays the Lincoln Memorial building in Washington, D.C. The 1983 Doubled Die Reverse is a notable variety, and this was the first full year of zinc composition. Denver's mint evolved from a frontier assay office into one of the nation's primary coin production facilities, opening in 1906.
