Description
Light trails leave the top left of each LIBERTY letter on 1983D-1DEO-002T and run toward 330°, north-northwest, up and to the left on the coin. TrailDies' code reads as the 1983 Denver cent (1983D, 1), an obverse design extension (DEO), its second file (002) and trails (T). On the stage C coin TrailDies describes, struck late in the die pair's use, the obverse has no markers listed. The reverse carries a light crack from the left corner of the Memorial's base out to the rim, and a short crack on the lower arm of the E in AMERICA. Jeremy Gardner found the die. Trails are commonly thought to come from polishing the die with a rotary tool; a minority view puts them down to the die moving against the hub.

- Stage “C”, obverse is LDS – none noted
- Reverse is LDS – a light die crack is seen from the left base corner to the rim. A small die crack is seen on the bottom arm of the E in AMERICA.
