Description
Cross-referenced as Fivaz-Stanton FS-501, this lead-catalog RPM for the 1971-S proof silver Eisenhower Dollar was documented by VarietyVista with S/S Northwest displacement. Die markers: UVC-108, DMR-032. Stage A: Obverse and reverse are EMDS. Stage B: MDS (unconfirmed). Stage C: LDS (unconfirmed). Cross-referenced as FS-501. S/S Northwest. The FS-501 Cherrypickers listing validates this as a recognized variety actively pursued by collectors. Frank Gasparro designed the Eisenhower Dollar with the president on the obverse and an eagle landing on the moon on the reverse, commemorating both Ike and Apollo 11. Struck as a proof at San Francisco in 40% silver outer layers bonded to a copper-silver core (24.59 g, 38.1 mm), the inaugural 1971 Ike Dollar issues hold particular collector interest as the last large-format dollar series.
