1971 (S) Proof Silver Eisenhower Dollar - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-001

Description

1971-S WDDO-001 is a doubled die obverse on the 1971-S silver proof Eisenhower dollar, cataloged by the Wexler team. LIBERTY, the date and IN GOD WE TRUST show strong Class II tripling toward the center. The obverse has the Peg Leg R, and a small gouge lies left of LIBERTY's R. On the reverse, AMERICA's E has two small gouges at its top left, a scratch runs NW from the upper left of the I, and a gouge sits right of the top of star #13. Kevin Flynn submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references. Wexler notes it was once listed as 1971-S WDDO-072 and was renumbered when many of the original listings turned out to come from doubled working hubs.
