Description
1970-D WDDR-004 is a doubled die reverse on the 1970-D Roosevelt dime, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling is a Class V clockwise (CW) spread, pivoting near 8:00. STATES OF AMERICA, UNUM, the upper oak leaves, the uppermost olive leaves and the left side of the torch flame all show it, and DIME shows it slightly. On the obverse, parallel SSW/NNE die scratches lie left of Roosevelt's lips. On the reverse, Wexler records a small die gouge in contact with the top of one letter in AMERICA; the entry leaves the letter out. John A. Wexler submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references. Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties.
