Description

Attributed as DDO-001 for the 1969 Philadelphia-mint Lincoln Memorial cent, this doubled die obverse exhibits a light spread on the LIB of LIBERTY and across the letters of IN GOD WE TRUST. The doubling pattern — affecting motto and legend while leaving the date relatively undisturbed — is consistent with a Class V clockwise (CW) pivot-style hub doubling, where the working hub rotated slightly between impressions during die manufacture, producing separation that increases with distance from the pivot point. Elements near the pivot show minimal displacement while those farther away display progressively wider spreads. Die markers UVC-2223 and DMR-002 provide secondary attribution points independent of the doubling itself: UVC (Unique Variety Code) and DMR (Die Marker Reference) numbers in the cataloging system allow positive die identification even on worn specimens where the light doubling may be difficult to resolve.
