1963 Washington Quarter - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-006

Description

1963 WDDR-006 is a doubled die reverse on the 1963 Washington quarter, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling shows on the ST of STATES along its upper left side, on the M in AMERICA along its left side, and inside the top of the C in AMERICA. On the obverse, a SW/NE scratch crosses the upper forehead, and a N/S scratch lies just right of the upper queue. On the reverse, a scratch heads SW off the first T in STATES from its left center, and a gouge heads NE off the same T from its right center. Under the left side of the crossbar of the second T in STATES there are two gouges, and a gouge heads NW off the E in STATES from its center left. Whaden Curtis submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as 4-R-VIII, and Cherrypickers as FS-25-1963-801. Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties.
