Description

Doubling on the lower left portions of the 1 and 6 in the date provides the primary diagnostic for WDDO-009 on the 1963-D Washington Silver Quarter, the final year that quarters were struck in 90% silver before the composition transition mandated by the Coinage Act of 1965. The Wexler Team documented extensive die markers for attribution: obverse diagnostics include a die scratch running southwest from the bottom of the U in TRUST, another running southwest from the lower left of the first T in TRUST, and a die scratch running northeast from the top of the G in GOD to the nose. The reverse carries a die gouge to the left of the upper I in AMERICA.
