Description

1963-D WDDO-004 is a doubled die obverse on the 1963-D Washington quarter, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling shows on the 6 of the date, along its lower right side. On the obverse, a scratch heads ESE off the second T in TRUST from its top right. The reverse is itself a doubled die, listed in the Wexler files as 1963-D WDDR-002: a strong clockwise (CW) spread appears on the O in OF and the ES of STATES. There is a strong gouge north of the arrow feathers, just under the eagle's inner feathers. Joe Feld submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as 6-O-V.
