1963 (D) Washington Quarter - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-006

Description

1963-D WDDO-006 is a doubled die obverse on the 1963-D Washington quarter, cataloged by the Wexler team. A close spread to the north appears on the lower queue and IN GOD WE TRUST. On the obverse, a long scratch heads SSW off the U in TRUST, from its bottom, out to the rim. An E/W crack crosses the upper forehead into the hair atop the head, and another crack crosses the bust's base and enters the lower queue. On the reverse, a crack descends the eagle's right wing and reaches the Q in QUARTER; a crack crosses the eagle's head and ends at a large die chip on the rear of the head; and a crack descends the left wing to the I in AMERICA. John A. Wexler submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
