1953 (D) Jefferson Nickel - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-002

Description

1953-D WRPM-002 is a repunched mint mark on the 1953-D Jefferson nickel, cataloged by the Wexler team. The secondary D is tilted (rotated) relative to the primary (D/D Tilted (Rotated)). On the obverse, a light die scratch heads north off the upper nose, and north-south scratches lie right of the upper queue. On the reverse, a short scratch heads NW off the E in STATES, from its center left; scratches head NE off the F in OF; and many scratches head NE off the top of Monticello. John A. Wexler submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
