Description
1951 WDDO-001 is a doubled die obverse on the 1951 Franklin half dollar, cataloged by the Wexler team. LIBERTY and IN GOD WE show Class VI doubling, spread toward the center. On the obverse, a gouge lies below the S of the designer's initials (JRS), and two gouges sit above and between GOD's D and WE's W. The 5 has a re-engraved bottom. On the reverse, right of the top of DOLLAR's R, there is die pitting. Tony Russo submitted the variety, and Crawford lists it as CDDO-001.
