1950-S Repunched Mintmark RPM-001

Description

Holding the primary catalog position for the 1950-S date, this VarietyVista-documented Roosevelt Silver Dime exhibits an S/S/S West, Lower Serif triple-punched mintmark from the San Francisco Mint. Die markers UVC-200 / DMR-002 track three stages: Stage A at EDS (unconfirmed); Stage B with reverse at MDS, three light East-West die cracks in upper hair at MDS, and several die scratches North-South in front of and behind head; Stage C with reverse at LDS and a die crack extending to rim at K-12 at LDS. The triple S/S/S pattern documents three distinct punch applications. Designed by John R. Sinnock, struck in 90% silver and 10% copper at 2.50 grams and 17.91 mm, the 1950-S Roosevelt Dime was only the fifth year of the series, and the Lower Serif designation identifies the specific S punch variant in service at San Francisco.
