Description

The seventh documented repunched mintmark for the 1949-S date, this San Francisco Jefferson Nickel is attributed as Wexler Variety ID: 1949-S 5¢ WRPM-007, with Brian Ribar providing the diagnostic photograph. Seven RPM varieties on a single date and mint combination points to a particularly active die shop season at San Francisco, where multiple working dies received imprecise secondary mintmark impressions.
