Description
The 1949 (S) Jefferson Nickel represents a San Francisco Mint issue from the Jefferson Nickels Original Design 1938-2003 series. With a mintage of 9.7 million, this is a scarce issue — the lowest mintage among 3 mint variants, representing only 9% of total production. The obverse features Thomas Jefferson facing left and the reverse displays Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's Virginia estate. San Francisco mintage dropped sharply.
