Description

1949-D WRPM-012 is a repunched mint mark on the 1949-D Jefferson nickel, cataloged by the Wexler team. The secondary D is tilted (rotated) relative to the primary (D/D Tilted (Rotated)). On the obverse, concentric die scratches follow the rim over IN GOD WE TRUST and over the star that sits between LIBERTY and the date. Short east-west scratches cross the I in IN; a few north-south scratches lie before the chin and throat; crisscrossing scratches sit before the mouth; and a short gouge lies in the upper left corner of the O's opening in GOD. On the reverse, a thin NE/SW scratch sits inside the second U in UNUM, and thin east-west scratches lie between the ICE of MONTICELLO and CENTS. Tanner Scott submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
