Description

1949-D WRPM-010 is a repunched mint mark on the 1949-D Jefferson nickel, cataloged by the Wexler team. The secondary D is tilted (rotated) relative to the primary (D/D Tilted (Rotated)). On the obverse, a strong concentric die scratch follows the rim around much of the obverse; the R in TRUST has a NW/SE scratch in its lower opening; another NW/SE scratch joins the date's 4 and 9; a gouge sits in the space separating the E in WE from the rim; and large gouges cross and sit below the B in LIBERTY. On the reverse, strong NW/SE scratches cross URIBUS; strong east-west scratches cross UNUM; and strong NW/SE scratches cross the STA of STATES and UNITED's NIT. Brian Ribar submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
