1948 (D) Jefferson Nickel - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-004

Description

1948-D WRPM-004 is a repunched mint mark on the 1948-D Jefferson nickel, cataloged by the Wexler team. A secondary D lies southeast of the primary D (D/D Southeast). On the obverse, a small die gouge lies left of the first T in TRUST. On the reverse, a die crack leaves the dome and runs two ways: north through PLURIBUS's second U to the rim, and south along the dome's right side, between the third and fourth columns, crossing MONTICELLO's E and reaching the N in CENTS. Brian Ribar submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
