1948 (D) Jefferson Nickel - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-001

Description

1948-D WRPM-001 is a repunched mint mark on the 1948-D Jefferson nickel, cataloged by the Wexler team. A secondary D lies west of the primary D (D/D West). On the obverse, SSW of the right star, in the field, is a die gouge. On the reverse, a die crack descends the dome's right side, passes between the third and fourth columns and reaches the steps. Lloyd Hanson submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as RPM #3. Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties.
