1947 Doubled Die Obverse DDO-003
Error
Description
The 1947 Doubled Die Obverse DDO-003 is a doubled die obverse (DDO) variety, where a misalignment during the die hubbing process created visible doubling on the obverse design elements. This variety was discovered on the 1947 Lincoln Wheat Cent, part of the Lincoln Wheat Cents 1909-1958 series. Die markers: UVC-1752 DMR-004 Stage A: Circular lather marks visible in field in front of the face and on the forehead – EMDS Die gouge from second T of STATES to last A of AMERICA – EMDS Die gouge from second T of STATES to C of AMERICA Stage B: MDS (unconfirmed) Stage C: LDS (unconfirmed). Spread is closer than DDO-002. I need to see a specimen of this doubled die for new color photos and die stage information.
