1946 (S) Roosevelt Dime - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-009

Description

1946-S WDDO-009 is a doubled die obverse on the 1946-S Roosevelt dime, cataloged by the Wexler team. The designer's initials and the date have a very close spread toward the center. The obverse is Type I. Over TRUST's second T, centered on it, a scratch runs northeast, and from the earlobe's right side a scratch heads south. The reverse has a Trumpet Tail mint mark. Starting at the rim over UNITED's E, scratches run SE through the E and into the T. A gouge sits on the right end of the lower horizontal bar of AMERICA's E, and inside the O of ONE is a short N/S scratch. John A. Wexler submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
