1946 (S) Roosevelt Dime - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-007

Description

1946-S WDDO-007 is a doubled die obverse on the 1946-S Roosevelt dime, cataloged by the Wexler team. A counterclockwise (CCW) spread, pivoting at 2:00, appears on the date, the designer's initials and IN GOD WE TRUST. The obverse is Type I. Between 7:00 and 8:00, gouges extend inward from the rim. A NE/SW scratch joins the R in LIBERTY to the T's horizontal bar, and a long scratch runs south off the bottom of the nose. The reverse has a Trumpet Tail mint mark and the doubling of the doubled working hub WWHR-001. Both olives have die clash marks, and two gouges (dots) sit between the upper parts of C and A in AMERICA. Joe Feld submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references. Its comments say it was formerly WDDO-021 and was renumbered when the doubled obverse working hub, WWHO-001, was found and left large gaps in the listings.
