1946 (S) Roosevelt Dime - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-006

Description

1946-S WDDO-006 is a doubled die obverse on the 1946-S Roosevelt dime, cataloged by the Wexler team. The designer's initials carry a very weak spread toward the center. The obverse is Type I. A die crack runs south from the throat, over the last T in TRUST, and a N/S scratch crosses the eyelid. The reverse has a Trumpet Tail mint mark and is a doubled die, carried in Wexler's doubled die files as 1946-S WDDR-004, with a spread toward the center on AMERICA, DIME and UNUM; the entry also calls the doubling on DIME weak. It is also a repunched mint mark, carried in the RPM files as 1946-S WRPM-009, an S/S Southeast. An ENE/WSW scratch crosses UNI of UNITED, and a gouge sits under the R in AMERICA, below its left leg. John A. Wexler submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
