1945-S Repunched Mintmark RPM-001

Description

Cataloged as RPM-001 (UVC-314, DMR-002), this 1945-S Jefferson nickel displays a repunched S mintmark on the wartime silver alloy composition. Three die stages document the variety's progression. Stage A is in early die state with markers unconfirmed. Stage B at mid-die state develops a die crack in Jefferson's hair and a light die crack over the bust line, while the reverse has reached mid-die state. Stage C in late die state shows the bust line crack has become heavy, with the reverse also in late die state.
