Description

A CW spread from a pivot at about 4:00 shows on UNITED STATES OF, QUARTER DOLLAR, and slightly on EPU.Die Markers: Obverse: The obverse is a doubled die listed in the Wexler Doubled Die files as 1944 25¢ WDDO-001. A Class I CW spread shows on IGWT, LIBERTY, the lower queue, the designer’s initials, and the date. Master die doubling shows on the underside of the nose and on Washington’s lower ear. A die scratch runs ESE from the lower right of the vertical bar of the L in LIBERTY. A die gouge curves south from the center left of the one in the date. Reverse: A die scratch connects the leaves above the L and A in DOLLAR just below the branch.Submitted By: Joe FeldCross References: CONECA: 1-R-V Obverse: A small die gouge shows just above the queue ribbon. A small die gouge can be found above the right end of the horizontal crossbar of the 2nd 4 in the date. Reverse: A die gouge can be found above the bottom loop of the 1st S in STATES. Die gouges can be found between the bottoms of the 1st S and 1st T of STATES. A die gouge extends southwest from the upper left 1st T of STATES.
