Description
1944 WDDO-004 is a doubled die obverse on the 1944 Washington quarter, cataloged by the Wexler team. A counterclockwise (CCW) spread pivoting from about 9:00 appears on the 44 of the date, the designer's initials, the ribbon's bottom, the ERTY of LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST. Master die doubling appears on Washington's lower ear and on the underside of the nose. On the obverse, a crack heads east through the upper forehead, enters the hair and reaches the Y in LIBERTY, and another crack crosses the bust's base. Wexler notes no significant reverse markers. John A. Wexler submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
