Error
Description
An S/S East variety documented by VarietyVista, this San Francisco Mint wartime silver Jefferson Nickel awaits specimen submission for new digital color photographs. Die markers UVC-468 / DMR-015 track three stages: Stage A at EDS (unconfirmed); Stage B at MDS (unconfirmed); Stage C with extensive die cracking including a crack south from rim through S of PLURIBUS to dome at LDS, a crack south from center of dome to steps between pillar #3 and #4, a crack from steps south to rim through C of MONTICELLO and E of CENTS, a crack across upper hair at LDS, and a crack across bust. The Stage C cracking forms a continuous fracture path from rim through PLURIBUS, dome, steps, and back to the rim, documenting a die approaching structural collapse. Composed of 56% copper, 35% silver, and 9% manganese at 5.0 grams and 21.21 mm.
