Description
The 1942-S Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-003 is a doubled die obverse (DDO) variety, where a misalignment during the die hubbing process created visible doubling on the obverse design elements. This variety was discovered on the 1942 (S) Jefferson Nickel - Wartime Silver Alloy, part of the Jefferson Nickels Original Design 1938-2003 series. Die markers: Obverse: Die crack from rim at about 6 o'clock through base of Jefferson's bust to his ear; series of die cracks in his hair. Reverse: The reverse is listed as 1942-S 5c WDDR-001.
