This variety was discovered on the 1942 (S) Jefferson Nickel - Wartime Silver Alloy, part of the Jefferson Nickels Original Design 1938-2003 series. Die markers: UVC-0?? DMR-0?? Stage A: Reverse is EDS Light die crack Northwest through hair – MDS Die crack Northeast across bust Numerous fine die scratches North-South on Obverse Die clash through knot UVC-046 DMR-005 Stage B: Die crack from rim through U of PLURIBUS and mintmark to dome – MDS Die crack from Right dome South between pillar # 2 and # 3 Obverse die changed – LDS Die crack along lower shoulder Die crack in upper hair Die gouge through U of TRUST Stage C: Die crack from C of MONTICELLO South through E of CENTS to rim just Right of the last S of STATES – LDS Obverse is VLDS.
