Also listed in the Cherrypickers' Guide — as FS-502 — the 1941-S Mercury Dime RPM-005 shows the S mint mark repunched to the northeast (S/S Northeast), complementing the northwest displacement found on RPM-001 from the same date. Both varieties share the MMS-002 mint mark style classification, indicating the same size S punch was used, but the opposite direction of displacement confirms these are from different working dies that each received their mint marks with different misalignment angles. The northeast direction means the first impression fell slightly below and to the left of the final position, creating a secondary shadow visible on the lower-left portion of the primary S under magnification. Having two Cherrypickers'-listed RPM varieties from the same date and mint highlights how the hand-punching process could produce misalignment in any direction, and collectors who locate one variety should examine additional 1941-S specimens for both RPM directions. The 1941-S Mercury Dime's moderate mintage makes these varieties achievable finds for dedicated cherry-pickers.
