1941 Washington Quarter - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-008

Description

1941 WDDO-008 is a doubled die obverse on the 1941 Washington quarter, cataloged by the Wexler team. A clockwise (CW) spread shows on IN GOD WE TRUST, and, more slightly, on the ribbon's bottom and the date. On the obverse, a crack follows the base of the bust into the queue, another crack crosses the top of the head, and just left of the lower neck there are SW/NE and N/S scratches. On the reverse, a crack heads down the eagle's right wing, ending at the leaf over the Q in QUARTER. Whaden Curtis submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references. Wexler notes that this is a replacement listing, since the original listing seems to have been lost over time.
