1941 Washington Quarter - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-004

Description

1941 WDDO-004 is a doubled die obverse on the 1941 Washington quarter, cataloged by the Wexler team. The spread is toward the north on IN GOD WE TRUST, growing smaller from left to right. On the obverse, left of the first T in TRUST there is a gouge, an E/W crack crosses the base of the bust, and another crack heads east across the upper forehead before entering the hair. On the reverse, a crack leaves the back of the eagle's head and heads east to the left wing. Frank Amoroso submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as 3-O-V, and its Cherrypickers number is FS-25-1941-101 (012.7). Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties.
