1941 Washington Quarter - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-007

Description

1941 WDDO-007 is a doubled die obverse on the 1941 Washington quarter, cataloged by the Wexler team. The underside of the nose, along with IN GOD WE TRUST, shows a very strong spread northward. On the obverse, a crack crosses the upper forehead eastward and enters the upper hair, and another crosses the base of the bust and enters the lower queue. A scratch joins the 9 and 4 of the date at their centers. On the reverse, a crack crosses the BUS of PLURIBUS and reaches the eagle's upper left wing, and another runs down the right wing to the Q in QUARTER. Kevin Flynn submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as 3-O-V, and its Cherrypickers number is FS-25-1941-101 (012.7). Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties.
