Description

1940-D WDDO-006 is a doubled die obverse on the 1940-D Mercury dime, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling, a Class II spread toward the center, is on the date. Wexler notes no significant obverse markers. On the reverse, two short die scratches link the lower parts of the O and F in OF. Thomas McGowan submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references. Wexler's comments describe this as a replacement listing; the entry first listed under this number turned out to be a lower-grade WDDO-001 specimen.
