Description
The 1940-D Repunched Mintmark WRPM-002 is a repunched mint mark variety of the United States nickel. This variety was discovered on the 1940 (D) Jefferson Nickel, part of the Jefferson Nickels Original Design 1938-2003 series. Cross-referenced as None known Comments: This variety is sure to be debated. I believe that it is a D/Inverted D. The curvature to the left of the primary D is raised and consistent with an inverted D. A vertical bar of the D shows inside the primary D at a slight angle still consistent with the external curvature I would welcome the opportunity to study an uncirculated EDS specimen of this variety.; Wexler Variety ID: 1940-D 5¢ WRPM-002.
