Description

DDO-002, which Wexler numbers WDDO-004, is a doubled die obverse on the 1940-D Mercury dime with a medium spread on IN GOD WE TRUST, the date, the designer's initials and the TY of LIBERTY. Both catalogs give the CONECA number 2-O-II, which VarietyVista writes as 2-O-II-C. Wexler describes a Class II spread toward the center on the date and notes no obverse markers. The reverse paired with it is a doubled die that Wexler lists as WDDR-001, with doubling on STATES OF, the tops of the axe and fasces, and the upper right leaves. That reverse also carries a repunched mint mark, Wexler's WRPM-005, a D/D North (a secondary D north of the primary), and a scratch leaves the right side of the center bands heading SSE. John A. Wexler submitted the coin. VarietyVista notes that the reverse is listed as its DDR-001 and RPM-005, and tracks the die under its marker codes UVC-107 and DMR-003.
